Home    News    News    FACT CHECK: Will the Real Jason Kenney Please Stand Up?
Jason Kenney told media today that he doesn’t believe in helping new Canadians find work in their fields anymore.

That’s funny, because Kenney’s Ministry sponsors the Post Graduate Work Permit Program that allows non-Canadian graduating students to stay in Canada for up to two years to work.

Kenney also signed the amendment to the Ontario-Canada Labour Market Agreement in 2009, which provided funding to bridge programs for immigrants. The goals of these programs? Helping skilled newcomers get Canadian experience and find jobs in their field of training, and helping them get their credentials faster.

These are just two of literally dozens programs that Kenney’s department funds and/or runs across the country.

Kenney’s also the same person who once said, “All of us have an obligation to work together to put an end to that so that those who arrive in this country every day can make the contribution they want to, which is to work hard.” (Speech to 12th National Metropolis Conference, March 18, 2010)

So why has Kenney changed his mind all of a sudden? Maybe it has something to do with helping Tea Party Tim Hudak in this election, so that the next time the federal government wants to treat Ontario unfairly, they have a lapdog at Queen’s Park, instead of someone who will provide some leadership and stand up for Ontario.
