July 13 – Fresh from a policy development session in Alberta, Conservative Leader Tim Hudak will don his Stetson and corral the media – but won’t be confused for a ‘straight shooter’:
- While in government, Hudak helped usher in the Waste Diversion Act, creating the eco-fees that he will trash-talk this morning. We reckon he won’t mention that eco-fees are a Harris Conservative legacy, and that not a single penny goes towards government revenues.
- Hudak used to talk about ways to make business more competitive, removing the “cascading” effect of the old PST. Then he changed his tune and voted against job-creating business tax cuts and personal tax cuts for Ontario families & seniors. He opposed the HST and refuses to tell Ontarians if he would repeal it.
- Hudak used to call for action on job creation. But he opposed government partnership with the auto industry and then bashed industry-leader Samsung and their plan to bring 16,000 new jobs to Ontario. He opposed job-creating infrastructure investments, during the 2009 recession, which the Conference Board of Canada said preserved 70,000 Ontario jobs.
Once again, Hudak will show that he’s all sizzle and no steak.
